The new iPhone SE is on sale now. More than four years after the original, Apple is back with a new small-screen phone, although the display now measures 4.7in compared to 4in.
It immediately becomes Apple’s most affordable smartphone, starting at £419/US$399.
You could be forgiven for thinking this was 2017’s iPhone 8, but despite the similarities in design the iPhone SE has had a big upgrade to its internals. Chief among these is a move to the A13 bionic chip, thought to be the fastest in any smartphone to date. Here’s all you need to know about the iPhone SE (2020).
One of the things it’s also retained from more expensive siblings is a glass back, making protection of particular importance.
The good news is there’s plenty of cases available. In addition to those designed specifically for the new model, cases from the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 (but not Plus models!) will still work with this phone. Here are our top picks.

Official Apple Leather
You can’t go wrong with an official Apple case, and the leather one adds a touch of class to your phone.
Made from high quality French materials, it has been specially designed to fit the iPhone SE snugly without adding bulk. Apple states it has undergone thousands of hours of testing too, ensuring it’s well protected from scratches and drops. It’s even still compatible with wireless charging.
The big attraction of the (PRODUCT)RED variant is that all proceeds will be donated to charity. Usually this is to help combat HIV, but during the coronavirus pandemic it’s going towards the fight against COVID-19.
If you’d prefer, the case is also available in Midnight Blue and Black.
Mous Limitless
If you’re looking for something a little more eye-catching, a Mous case could be the one to go for.
The Limitless 2.0 adds a number of useful features without compromising on protection. Utilising what Mous calls ‘AiroShock’ technology, this case is made from durable natural material to withstand impacts. There are also raised top and bottom edges to protect your phone’s screen.
A major attraction of this case is its magnetic back, making it compatible with a range of Mous accessories. These include a wallet and two configurations of car mount.
The Walnut variant (pictured) is particularly eye-catching, but it’s also available in Aramid Fire, Bamboo, Black Leather and Shell.

In fact, there are 26 different use cases for the accessory, making it the perfect companion for hikes or camping trips. The fact you wouldn’t even know it’s there makes this it all the more impressive.
The tool is housed between the two parts of the case – a soft rubberised inner combines with a reinforced polycarbonate externals for enhanced drop protection.
