Though Nvidia ended up delaying its RTX 3070 launch, the manufacturer still kept things rolling with a recent blog post about its latest graphics card’s performance.
The “RTX 3070 Availability Update” announcement boasts a special chart that shows off performance from the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2070 as compared to the new RTX 3070.
According to the chart, games that Nvidia selected, like Borderlands 3, Control, and Doom Eternal perform better with the RTX 3070. While these are of course selections that Nvidia made for the purposes of its performance chart, it’s nevertheless intriguing that the RTX 3070 blows away the 2080 Ti in nearly every category, except for titles like Control and Timespy Extreme.
According to Videocardz, the RTX 3070 measured about 8 percent faster than the 2080 Ti on average across the various performance tests, and about 68% fast than the 2070. These averages came about by way of a “pixel counting” test, reading Nvidia’s measurements.
The full results with a more broad selection of titles and applications will be rolling out when the RTX 3070 ends up launching later this month. It has been rescheduled for an October 29th debut, with Nvidia claiming customer demands for more cards on launch day as part of the reason for the wait.
“We’ve heard from many of you that there should be more cards available on launch day,” Nvidia announced. To help make that happen, we are updating the availability date to Thursday, October 29th.” During this time, Nvidia believes it will have enough time to assist its global partner “get more graphics cards into the hands of gamers on launch day.”
Nvidia hasn’t had the best track record as of late when it comes to getting GPUs into the hands of willing buyers, but if this delay truly is a move to help dampen demand and ensure those who want to purchase an RTX 3070 have the ability to, it’s possible this next wave could be far less of a hassle, leaving far few buyers jilted with their credit cards in-hand on launch day.
