Apple products are sold at a premium, but keeping those products clean also comes at a high price if you opt for Apple’s new polishing cloth.
Made from a “soft, nonabrasive material,” Apple says the Polishing Cloth “cleans any Apple display, including nano-texture glass, safely and effectively.” Microfiber polishing cloths are typically used to safely clean electronic devices and glass, and you can buy them in packs of 12 for less than $20. However, Apple thinks a single Polishing Cloth is worth $19.
Back in 2019, Apple launched a 32-inch 6K Pro Display XDR which used nano-texture glass. At the time, Apple stated that it required a special cleaning cloth to “wipe dust or smudges off the screen,” and Apple was the only company making them. Thankfully, the polishing cloth was supplied with the display so it wasn’t necessary to buy one separately.
As this new cloth is compatible with nano-texture glass, it’s likely to be the same cloth included in the box with the XDR display. Does that make it worth $19? If you own a device with nano-texture glass it probably does, which also includes at least one iMac model. Regardless of the price, the Polishing Cloth is clearly proving very popular as ordering one today won’t see it delivered until Nov. 10 at the earliest.
