Not content with next-day, same-day, or even one-hour deliveries, DoorDash has gone a step further and is promising to deliver some grocery orders in just 10-15 minutes.
It’s called DoorDash ultra-fast grocery deliveries, and it’s initially being offered at the DashMart located in Chelsea, New York City. Over 2,000 fresh and frozen grocery items will be available to order for ultra-fast delivery, as long as your location falls within the delivery zone catered to. The Chelsea store is open from 7am to 2am.
Customers will be able to place an ultra-fast order using the DoorDash app or website and there’s no delivery fee if you have DashPass. Service fees will also be reduced. DoorDash is encouraging new customers to sign-up with $15 of credit to use against their first order using the code WELCOMENYC.
The faster deliveries isn’t just good news for DoorDash customers, but for couriers, too. DoorDash is adopting “a new way of working” for this service because such deliveries “require a different operating model to ensure orders are fulfilled instantly and merchant and customer expectations are met.” With that in mind, couriers handling ultra-fast orders will be employed full-time and work regular schedules. They will also use a new app and be actively managed. This also means they are entitled to hourly earnings as well as medical, dental, and vision insurance.
In the next few months, DoorDash expects to introduce more locations and partners joining the ultra-fast delivery network, which should allow more customers to take advantage of it.
