It’s been a long wait, but Halo Infinite Season 3 has finally been given a release date by Microsoft and 343 Industries. Season 3 was originally supposed to launch back in November of 2022, but was delayed four months to March of this year. 343 did drop a “Winter Update” in the interim, adding Forge and other features, but technically, Halo Infinite Season 2 will have lasted over 10 months by the time it wraps up.
But hey, the end is in sight, and 343 has released the first trailer for Halo Infinite Season 3, showing off new maps, weapons, gadgets, and more. Check it out for yourself, below.
Halo Infinite Season 3 will introduce a handful of new maps, including…
- Oasis (Big Team Battle) – Finally, another map for those who enjoy Halo Infinite’s larger 16-player multiplayer mode. As the name implies, Oasis looks to take place in a sandy and fairly wide-open outpost, with lots of room for vehicular mayhem.
- Cliffhanger (Arena) – This arena map looks to deliver lots of verticality and rocky cover.
- Chasm (Arena) – A tight indoor battleground with a large central chamber to fight over.
Season 3 will also introduce the Escalation Slayer mode and a “Community Collection Playlist” that will allow you to earn XP by playing various maps created by amateur creators in Forge. Some of these look rather clever, like “Art’s Room,” which takes place in a large Toy-Story-style gamer’s bedroom.
In addition to the new maps, Halo Infinite Season 3 adds the Shroud Screen gadget that will obscure your movements. We’re also getting the M392 Bandit, a powerful one-shot rifle that looks somewhat similar to past favorites like the M392 MDR.
Overall, it seems like Season 3 offers a solid array of stuff, with more (including the new battle pass) still to be detailed. That said, is it enough to make the 10-month wait feel worth it? That’s up for debate. Let’s hope we’re not waiting 10 months for Season 4.
Halo Infinite can be played on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Season 3 launches on March 7. What do you think? Is some of the new content sparking some excitement in you or is it too little, too late?
