Remnant 2 sales have surpassed 2 million units globally, publisher Embracer Group has revealed.
The sales number was revealed via Embracer’s financial earnings interim report for the publisher’s second quarter in its current fiscal year. According to the report, the Remnant sequel harvested over $66 million in net sales between July 2023 and September 2023. “Remnant II, internally developed by Gunfire Games and published by Gearbox Publishing, was successfully released on July 25 and has now sold more than 2 million units and generated more than SEK 700 million in Net Sales in Q2”, the interim report reads.
Back in August of this year, we already reported about the successful launch of the game, selling over 1 million copies of the game worldwide in its first week. Interestingly, as also reported in August, Remnant 2 managed to beat Diablo IV to top the US charts in back-to-back months for a short period.
Aside from mentioning the success of Remnant 2, the interim report also briefly talks about the mixed reception for Payday 3. The game had a troubled launch, but developer Starbreeze managed to address most of the matchmaking issues last month. “That said, we have seen a mixed reception and performance for the externally developed game Payday 3 and a few smaller releases in the quarter”, Embracer writes. The report adds, “Payday 3, developed by Starbreeze Studios and released on September 21, had a positive Adjusted EBIT contribution with the investment recouped in Q2. We expect it to contribute positively in FY 2023/24, but below management expectations, due to a softer launch where an unforeseen error relating to external matchmaking software impacted the experience for gamers.”
Remnant 2 was released back in July of this year. Here’s what we wrote about the sequel in our launch review: Remnant II is an impressive technical and artistic accomplishment in some ways, offering an intermittedly-striking, cutting-edge procedural world that’s satisfying to unravel. Unfortunately, a forgettable story, middle-of-the-road gunplay, dull loot, and some performance issues means this fantastic world isn’t always that fun to inhabit. Some folks, particularly those with a regular co-op party, will be drawn into this dark multiverse, but others may find Remnant II only provides scattered fragments of excitement amidst the frustration.
