Best known for its comprehensive line of smart locks, Securam is now shipping the line of smart in-wall lighting controls it first announced at CES this past January.
There are initially three products in the line, each of which operates over Wi-Fi: The model SH-SS01 non-dimming switch, the model SH-SS02 non-dimming switch with an integrated laser motion sensor and ambient light sensor, and the model SH-SD01 dimmer switch with the same set of sensors.
This news story is part of TechHive’s in-depth coverage of the best smart switches and dimmers.
Securam is touting its use of a laser for detecting motion, which the company says is much more accurate than the more typical passive-infrared detectors that rely on temperature differentials. The three new switches can be integrated with Securam’s EOS smart lock, door/window sensors, and smart siren.
Users can set up a Guard Security System and customize Securam’s home security products using the Securam Guard mobile app to create scenes in which one device can trigger others to perform actions. For instance, they can configure Securam’s EOS Smart Lock to turn lights on when arriving home and unlocking the door, or turning the lights off when you leave home and lock the door.
The Securam Wi-Fi Smart Switch ($24.9)5, is a simple two-state paddle switch with an LED to indicate its status (on/off), while the Wi-Fi Security Switch ($45.95) is a three-button switch with an onboard motion sensor and an ambient light sensor. Its top and bottom buttons can trigger on and off routines for other smart devices, while its middle button is an on/off toggle for its connected load. The $59.95 Wi-Fi Security Dimmer is also a three-button device with the same sensors, but its top and bottom buttons brighten and dim a connected load respectively, while its middle button is an on/off toggle.
We’ll have hands-on reviews of all three products as soon as we can secure review units.
