Actor Rob McElhenney will have a cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine, but exactly what part he’ll play in the Marvel film remains to be seen. Star Ryan Reynolds confirmed this in a video for his and McElhenney’s football club, Wrexham FC.
“I can’t necessarily tell you which character Rob plays in Deadpool for fear of being shot down by the Marvel drone that follows me and my kids around,” Reynolds joked.
The full video is a treat, as it provides a behind-the-scenes look at the set of Deadpool and Wolverine in London. There is fun sequence where Reynolds reveals details about the film to McElhenney, but the entire thing is bleeped out–we can only imagine what Reynolds might have been saying. In another part, we see Reynolds teasing that McElhenney might play a nameless grunt that Reynolds bashes into the ground. Apparently we’ll have to wait until July to find out who exactly McElhenney plays.
Reynolds ends the video by roasting McElhenney for how the actor has never asked Reynolds to have a cameo in any of his projects like It’s Always Sunny or Mythic Quest. Take a look at the full thing below, as shared by the Deadpool Updates account on social media.
Deadpool and Wolverine will apparently have numerous cameos. “Let’s just say a lot of people traveled to London [where the movie was filmed],” Karan Soni, who plays Dopinder, said.
Some of the rumors so far include Jennifer Garner coming back to play Elektra and Taylor Swift playing Dazzler. Director Shawn Levy previously discussed how easy it was to recruit big stars to come to London to film cameos for Deadpool and Wolverine.
“People love Deadpool. People love Ryan [Reynolds]. Thankfully, people also seem to like my work. They know that Ryan and I are in a groove of creative brotherhood that is unique and seems to be working,” he said.
Deadpool and Wolverine releases in theaters on July 26, and it’s already making millions from ticket pre-sales. It is Marvel’s one and only film coming in 2024, and that’s intentional because Disney is trying to make fewer, better movies.
