NetherRealm Studios has pulled the plug on Mortal Kombat: Onslaught just a year after launching the free-to-play mobile game.
The game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account took to the social platform to announce that it’ll be “closing operations in October”.
“Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will shut down on 10/21/24. The game will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on 7/22/24, with in-game purchases disabled on 8/23/24,” the account wrote.
Mobile layoffs
The recent reports of NetherRealm letting go of its mobile games development team could be false, as only the Mortal Kombat Onslaught team has confirmed ceasing operations.
Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice 2 Mobile teams have both taken to X social platform to share that: “NetherRealm Studios would like to assure all players and fans of our ongoing commitment to Injustice 2 mobile. The game will continue operations and have full support.”
Mortal Kombat Onslaught will be playable until Monday, October 21st 2024. In-app purchases will also continue until Friday, August 23rd 2024.
