Automobile manufacturer Volkswagen AG is the latest car-maker to partner with games platform AirConsole to bring an in-car gaming experience to its drivers and passengers.
AirConsole will be available for the new Passat, Tiguan, Golf and the new Golf Estate car product lines to entertain people on the road during charging or breaks.
The platform’s new games are accessible on the car’s infotainment display which functions as a game console and display while the player’s smartphone is used as a controller.
Play games during stops
After launching the AirConsole app on the car’s infotainment system, they connect their mobile by scanning a QR code on the display and enjoy playing games with Volkswagen’s Active Info Display.
The platform supports multiple players including rear passengers during stops, allowing solo or group play with all occupants. Those questioning the safety of such eye-catching entertainment in-car need not worry – gameplay is only available when the vehicle is in park.
Volkswagen plans to launch AirConsole in select European countries by mid-September, with more games and expanded availability across more European countries by late 2024.
Toy giant Mattel recently teamed up with AirConsole and BMW to bring its classic card game UNO to in-car gaming.
