Growth of new games and its apps business propelled net profits at Lords Mobile developer I Got Games (IGG) to $HK331 million ($42.3m) during the first half of the year.
According to the company’s latest financials for H1 2024, games revenue at the firm hit HK$2.3 billion ($298.4m) in H1 2024, up 1% year-over-year. The company’s apps business, which includes the Link messaging platform, saw revenue rise by 116% Y/Y to HK$409m ($52.5m)
Overall revenue at the firm hit HK$2.74bn ($350.8m), a rise of 9% Y/Y.
Games breakdown
IGG’s flagship game Lords Mobile, launched in 2016, continues to be the company’s biggest earner, accounting for 49% of revenue, or HK$1.34bn ($171.9m), during the first half of the year.
More recently launched titles, such as 2021’s Doomsday: Last Survivors and 2022’s Viking Rise, generated approximately HK$500m ($64.1m) and HK$300m ($38.5m), respectively, during the period. They accounted for 18% and 11% of the company’s total revenue.
IGG attributed the performance of these two strategy titles, as well as its apps business, as the primary reasons for the company’s revenue growth.
The company’s apps business hit a record-breaking HK$400m ($51.3m) in revenue during the first half of the year, accounting for 15% of its total sales.
Looking ahead, IGG said it plans to utilise AI and generative AI technologies in its operations. This includes leveraging AI tech to “increase R&D efficiency”, and using genAI tools in game design, art production and programming.
