AI emote creator Kinetix has created a $1 million AI-UGC fund. The initiative is designed to support game developers and modders to grant access to generative AI technologies.
The first studio to receive support from the new fund is SmokeSpot Games, the creators of the customisable fighting and fashion title Dropcult.
Kinetix is known for its embeddable AI emote creator allowing players to create custom 3D animations for videos and incorporate them directly into a game. This means that game studios can turn players into creators and meet a greater demand for fresh content and customisation options.
The AI-UGC fund program is a selective, application-based program designed to identify and support projects that show potential. The initial focus will be on live games or those in open and closed beta, with an established 3D avatar system and a growing monthly active user base.
AI emote tech
The funding initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of AI-UGC features seen in games, with selected developers receiving up to $75,000 each to bring Kinetix’s user-generated emote technology to their games or mods. They will also receive dedicated integration and marketing support.
“While recent developments in AI make it easy for anyone to create content, this revolution has yet to be provided to players directly in 3D games,” said Kinetix CEO Yassine Tahi.
“With this Fund and our SDK, we intend to bring Generative AI capabilities into the hands of gamers, like we already did in OVERDARE or Dropcult.”
Yuriy Ternovski, CEO of SmokeSpot Games, added: “We centred Dropcult around customisable avatars, fashion, and dynamic gameplay that can be streamed and shared on social media.”
“Partnering with Kinetix took this further by letting our community express themselves through movement. Players like to create and share their creations. Everyone wins, and we grew a large community around this.”
Applications for the AI-UGC fund are open on a rolling basis, early submissions are encouraged. To apply, developers must provide detailed information about their project and plans for integrating AI technology, a visual deck or short video and the amount of funding requested.
Application submissions are open now.
