Arrowhead has finally released a new patch for Helldivers 2, which allows players to feel stronger when they should and adds more diversity to their gameplay. In this update, they did a significant overhaul of the anti-tank, armor penetration, and health and armor values. Overall, the weapons and stratagems have been balanced, and enemies have been reworked to make the game a more enjoyable experience. As a result of this, the player count tripled. The day before the patch rolled out, the player count hit a 22,000 peak. However, post-patch, it climbed to a 68,000 peak once it fully rolled out.
This is the highest player count the game has gotten since its release, as the player numbers have steadily declined since its release in February of this year. Additionally, the game has a 20% off sale on Steam, coinciding with the new update so that new players will get the proper experience rather than the strained one from the previous patch.
Although previous patches added new maps and more content to Helldivers 2, this patch seems to have benefited players most, as it made many changes. The patch notes are extensive, with weapons being buffed significantly to damage enemies more, making the game more enjoyable for the players.
This patch also added the Galactic War feature, a War map that displays the location of important assets, making it much easier for teams to decide where to go and where they should navigate in battle. Additionally, there is now an Emote Wheel feature, with players able to hold up to four Emotes, which can be equipped via the Armory.
While this patch predominantly focused on buffing player damage and nerfing enemy damage, it also included a ton of crash fixes and soft-lock fixes, optimizing the game even further and making it more playable. The game had many crashes when interacting with certain enemies or objects and when players hot-joined.
Although the patch notes are extensive and include many changes and repairs, they are aware of quite a few known issues that they still have to work on repairing and have listed everything they intend to fix in future patches. This includes units not having audio cues, friend requests not working, and social menus getting stuck.
In addition to the written patch notes, they also released a video discussing the changes they’ve made. This allows you to digest the patch notes via video rather than reading the huge number of changes the developers have made to Helldivers 2.
