Silent Hill Townfall is one of several projects based on KONAMI’s premiere horror franchise announced at the Silent Hill Transmission presentation in October 2022, alongside the Silent Hill 2 remake (due to be released in just a few days) and Silent Hill F.
After that brief teaser, Silent Hill Townfall Creative Director Jon McKellan from No Code (the studio behind Observation) shared a message with the community:
I remember playing the original Silent Hill on PlayStation 1 back in 1999 and became a fan from that moment on. So, for us to work on this game with our friends at Annapurna feels like an actual dream come true. It’s a real honor for us to bring a new title to this series that both respects the source material but also does something a little bit different with it. To say that Silent Hill has been an inspiration to No Code would be a massive understatement. Our previous two games, Stories Untold and Observation, both played with that same deep psychological horror, and at No Code, we are all about weaving that narrative and that experience into every aspect of our game design, our audio, our visuals, even our UI.
McKellan also teased that fans would see more of the project in 2023, which hasn’t really happened. Furthermore, following Annapurna Interactive’s major woes (the entire team recently resigned), many questions were raised about the game’s status. Thankfully, a few hours ago, the Twitter(X) accounts of No Code and Annapurna Interactive shared a reassuring message with the community:
We deeply apologize for any concerns about SILENT HILL: Townfall. SILENT HILL: Townfall will continue to be co-developed by KONAMI, Annapurna Interactive, and No Code.
The game is alive and well, then, even though we don’t know when it will be unveiled to the public. Still, stay tuned on Wccftech and we’ll keep you abreast of any rumors, leaks, and official news about this and any other Silent Hill project.
