Flexion is bringing another big mobile game to alternative app stores, this time partnering with MY.GAMES to take War Robots to the Samsung Galaxy Store, ONE store, Xiaomi and Huawei App Gallery.
Originally a 2014 title, War Robots has survived for a decade in the ever-evolving mobile games industry and has accumulated over 270 million players in that time.
Naturally, its rollout on new stores will mean casting a wider net to audiences as-yet untapped.
Broadening horizons
Alternative app stores are becoming an increasingly prevalent part of the mobile games landscape. In the past 12 months alone, the likes of King, Scopely, Kabam, and Jam City have contributed to this shifting current.
That’s meant mobile classics like Candy Crush Saga and new-wave titans like Monopoly Go! have all arrived on more stores, increasing accessibility and outreach through their Flexion partnerships.
In Q4 this year, War Robots will join the ranks, through which MY.GAMES hopes to expand its position in Asia; the title has already established key markets in the US, Japan, Germany, the UK, and Korea.
As one of MY.GAMES’s top mobile title, War Robots, has already generated more than $900 million over the last decade, and its audience continues to grow yearly.
Greater returns
According to Flexion, games it publishes on alternative stores typically see a 10% boost in incremental revenue in comparison with Google Play figures.
“Google and Apple are seeing their dominance fade and developers are re-evaluating the best ways to drive users and revenue,” said Flexion CEO Jens Lauritzson.
“Our expertise in a range of channels offers developers massively reduced upfront costs and human resources compared with what they would need to invest to adapt to the evolving games market on their own. It gives me great pleasure to welcome MY.GAMES on board and I’m sure this will be the start of a very productive partnership.”
War Robots executive producer Boris Burangulov commented on the deal: “War Robots is one of the top mobile games in our portfolio, and this year marks its 10th anniversary since launch. The game grows bigger every year, discovering new audiences; it’s important for us to explore new platforms and resources to reach even more players.
“Flexion impressed us with how easy they make it to publish in alternative markets, allowing us to concentrate our resources on developing the game.”
Among the alternative app stores, Epic Games has just announced new incentives for Unreal users to release games on its store starting in January.
