The World Health Organisation (WHO) has partnered with free-to-play mobile farm game Goodville to launch an AI resource assistant for health called Sarah.
Sarah is a virtual assistant designed to help players improve their physical and mental well-being by offering tips based on WHO guidelines. Players can interact with Sarah through an in-game chat that’s integrated into the gameplay.
The partnership follows a 2022 collaboration between WHO and Goodville, which introduced Florence, WHO’s first virtual assistant in the game. Since then, WHO said that over 1.5 million players have interacted with Florence, and more than 30,000 have completed a related quest line.
Expanding impact
“We welcome efforts by the video game companies, such as Goodville, to encourage their large online communities to take the necessary steps for better health and wellbeing,” said WHO lead of digital channels Andy Pattison. “We need to continue to reach people with science-based, trustworthy health information where they are, in the palms of their hands.”
Goodville CEO Alexey Meleshkevich added:“Video games hold incredible potential to make a positive difference in people’s lives, with mental wellbeing playing a vital role in overall health. Our ongoing collaboration with WHO has been instrumental in helping Goodville fulfil its mission of supporting emotional resilience and mental health for players worldwide.”
“We are excited to deepen this collaboration, leveraging WHO’s expertise to expand our impact even further in the coming year, bringing meaningful support to even more players around the world.”
