Playstack CEO Harvey Elliott will be heading to Pocket Gamer Connects London 2025 this month to host one of our star talks delving into the launch of LocalThunk’s 2024 indie sensation Balatro.
The must-attend show for the games industry takes place on January 20th to 21st and we’re expecting it to be our biggest event ever. It’ll feature all the usual PGC goodness: insightful sessions, an abundance of networking and deal-making opportunities (like Publisher SpeedMatch, Investor Connector and more), the Careers Zone, the Very Big Indie Pitch, and even the unveiling of our Top 50 UK Game Makers list.
Elliott will host a session entitled: ‘Playing the Long Game: Lessons From Balatro for Maximising Success’ on our Big Screen Heroes track.

The card game, developed by LocalThunk and published by Playstack, was one of 2024’s biggest success stories in the industry. The title took home two accolades at the Pocket Gamer Awards: Best Digital Board Game of the Year and Best Mobile Port. Balatro also won three prizes at The Game Awards, including Mobile Game of the Year, Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game
Elliott’s talk at PGC London will delve into key strategies for maximising the life of your game post-launch, using Balatro as a case study. Elliott will explore strategies such as cross-platform expansion, strategic partnerships, and community engagement.
