UK developer Sumo Digital released a new patch for the PC version of Sackboy: A Big Adventure today, adding support for two key features of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards.
Firstly, the game now supports DLSS Frame Generation (or DLSS 3) on top of DLSS Super Resolution (or DLSS 2), which has been available since its launch on PC. That should further increase frame rates for compatible GPUs, though neither Sumo nor NVIDIA have provided any estimates with regard to DLSS 3 performance yet.
This addition brings the total of DLSS 3 compatible games to 29, confirming the much faster adoption rate of the technology compared to DLSS 2. The list is about to grow even larger thanks to important titles like Forza Horizon 5, which is getting DLSS Frame Generation support on March 28th, not to mention Redfall and Diablo IV, both of which will feature DLSS 3 support when they launch, on May 2nd and June 6th, respectively.
More interesting and rare is the addition of Shader Execution Reordering support, or SER. As far as we know, few, if any, PC games introduced support for the new technology available in RTX 40 GPUs. A quick refresher: Shader Execution Reordering improves the efficiency of ray tracing operations by bundling them together. This can lead to important performance gains in ray tracing heavy games, such as the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Overdrive Mode, where NVIDIA estimated a 44% performance boost due to SER alone.
On PC, Sackboy: A Big Adventure supports ray traced reflections, ray traced shadows, and ray traced ambient occlusion. Again, we don’t know how much of an improvement SER can yield in this game, but we’ll try to find out shortly. At any rate, between DLSS 3 and SER, RTX 40 GPUs should enjoy much higher FPS after this update.
By the way, today’s patch also delivers the following fixes:
- Fixed Sackboy Rolling Animation Getting Stuck in Certain Places
- Fixed Sackboy Getting Stuck in the Travel Pod if a Secondary Player Leaves the Game
- Fixed UI Pop-ups Showing Up When in the Loading Screen

Sumo Digital’s take on the Little Big Planet mascot has given this iconic character A Big Adventure that’s among the best of PlayStation 5’s launch titles. It’s easily accessible, full of pure joy, and even a decent platformer to boot. Older audiences may find Sackboy: A Big Adventure a bit on the easier side of 3D platformers, but the challenge of hunting down every collectible bauble or pop reference scattered throughout the world will ensure players get their money’s worth in this family-friendly adventure. If you wrapped up Astro’s Playroom and want another lighthearted adventure to go on with your kids, I can’t recommend Sackboy: A Big Adventure enough!
