Street Fighter 6, the latest entry in the fighting game series by CAPCOM, is launching in less than two months on PC and consoles, but it seems like players all over the world won’t have to wait this long to get a new taste of the game.
As reported on Twitter by @fubarduck, Eiko Kano, a well-known Japanese streamer who is regularly invited by CAPCOM for their CAPCOM TV shows, recently mentioned that a Street Fighter 6 open beta will be held before the end of the month.
Today’s hot “leak” on JP FGC Twitter:
Eiko Kano, a talent and streamer who is regularly invited to Capcom TV, casually mentioned that SF6 will hold an open beta later this month while streaming Dead by Daylight.
He didn’t seem aware that this wasn’t officially announced yet. https://t.co/avs7aHJwK1— Ryan Harvey@ふーばー (@fubarduck) April 5, 2023
While CAPCOM has yet to confirm if more rounds of Street Fighter 6 testing will be held before the game launches this June, it is likely that an open beta is happening, considering the publisher only held two closed beta tests so far with a limited online population. As the game is setting out to be one of the biggest releases of the year, CAPCOM definitely needs to hold more tests to see how the game’s online infrastructure will hold up with a large number of players at the same time.
The Street Fighter 6 open beta would also be the perfect chance for those who got invited into the closed beta tests to try out characters outside the eight that were available in them, such as Dee Jay, Marisa, Cammy, Manon, Zangief, and Lily. CAPCOM showed them at length in the past few weeks, so all that is left is to give players the chance to try them out before launch.
Street Fighter 6 launches on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S on June 2nd, 2023. We will keep you updated on the game’s open beta as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
