Alan Wake 2 arrives today, and fans should have plenty of scares and secrets to dig into, but what comes after that? Alan Wake 2 has an Expansion Pass, which will include two additional pieces of story DLC, and as part of an updated FAQ, developer Remedy Entertainment have detailed these expansions.
The first Alan Wake 2 story DLC is called Night Springs, and will take the form of several episodes of a fictional in-universe TV show. It sounds like these will be a series of more bite-sized experiences, allowing the player to take on some different roles.
Expansion 1 – Night Springs
- Visions and dreams. Fiction is written and coming true. Fiction collapses and remains just words on a page. These are those stories… in Night Springs.
- Play as several familiar characters from the world of Alan Wake and experience the unexplainable in multiple self-contained episodes of Night Springs, a fictional tv-show set in the world of Alan Wake.
While the first Alan Wake 2 expansion sounds fun, its second, entitled The Lake House is perhaps more intriguing. While Remedy doesn’t come right out and say it, they’re hinting pretty strongly this will be a Control crossover as part of their Remedy Connected Universe. Remember, Control took place in “The Oldest House,” so “The Lake House” sounds like another similar facility. The description of the DLC also mentions an “independent government organization,” which is very likely the Federal Bureau of Control. Again, none of this is confirmed, but you don’t have to read between the lines too hard here.
Expansion 2 – The Lake House
- The Lake House is a mysterious facility situated on the shores of Cauldron Lake set up by an independent government organization to conduct secret research… until something goes wrong.
- Explore the Lake House and embark on two separate adventures as the realities of Saga Anderson and Alan Wake collide again.
As mentioned, the Alan Wake 2 story DLC is part of the game’s Expansion Pass, which is included in the $80 Deluxe Edition of the game. It’s not yet known what Remedy may charge for the DLC a la carte.
Alan Wake 2 is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5… today (October 27). You can check out Wccftech’s full, very positive review of the game here.
