Behaviour Interactive announced that the new Dead by Daylight: Alien chapter is out on PC and consoles, delivering the signature sci-fi horror franchise to Dead by Daylight.
The playable roster now includes the Xenomorph and its nemesis, Ellen Ripley. Additionally, Ridley Scott’s classic film inspired a new map called Nostromo Wreckage.
Chase Toole, Associate Artistic Director of Dead by Daylight, stated:
One of the biggest challenges of this Chapter was blending the world of Alien with the world of Dead by Daylight. We strived to honor the source material while respecting our gameplay and the universe we have built, and hope players will recognize – and appreciate – the familiar sights and twisted environmental tweaks from The Entity.
Janick Neveu, Game Designer for Dead by Daylight, said:
The fantasy of playing as Ripley is an incredible opportunity. Ripley has many tricks up her sleeves, with Perks that give her silent footsteps while running and trapping Pallets, making her a resourceful and powerful ally. She offers an incredibly fun strategic counterplay that will certainly draw people in.
Dave Richard, Senior Creative Designer on Dead by Daylight, added:
The Xenomorph is truly one of the most mythical creatures ever created. It taps into our fear of what lurks behind our reach in the dark. The anxiety it creates is only amplified by its striking appearance. We couldn’t have hoped for a better fit to be added to our roster of impressive Killers.
When playing on the Nostromo Wreckage map in Dead by Daylight: Alien, players will encounter a new feature called Steam Pipes. These are triggered by walking past them; after a few seconds, a jet of steam will be ejected, slowing down nearby Killers or Survivors. Survivors also have the chance to interact with Steam Pipe panels to reset them and allow them to be triggered again.
Additionally, Control Stations will be added on any map when facing the Xenomorph. Survivors can interact with them to obtain the Remote Flame Turret, which can disable the Xenomorph’s Crawler Mode power and reduce its stealth. However, it may need to be repaired if used for a long time, and it can also be destroyed by the Xenomorph. In turn, the Xenomorph can use the tunnel system linked to Control Stations to move quickly across the map and even see the Survivor’s footsteps from above.
Dead by Daylight: Alien is just the last addition to the highly successful asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, which recently introduced Nick Cage to its roster. Seven years after launch, Behaviour’s hit game is still going strong.
