Another Code: Recollection is the new Switch remake of the Nintendo-published DS and Wii cult-classic story-driven adventure games Another Code: Two Memories (known as Trace Memory in North America) and Another Code: R – A Journey into Lost Memories. Beyond the expected visual updates, Another Code: Recollection also completely remixes the games’ puzzles, meaning even those familiar with the originals will find themselves on new ground.
One of your main goals during the middle stretch of Another Code: Two Memories is collecting the three Another Keys – special memory cards needed for your DAS. We’ve already told you how to get the first Another Key, so here’s how to find the second and final ones…
Note: While our Another Code: Recollection guides stay away from specific story details, they may still contain some SPOILERS. Proceed accordingly.
- Step 1 – After acquiring the first Another Key, you should now have access to the Study/Library on the second-floor west wing of the mansion. Oddly, upon entering the Library, you’ll find yourself in a first-person perspective for the only time in the game.
- Step 2 – It’s dark in the Library, but you can use your lighter to light up candles strewn about the area (which seems like a bit of a fire hazard, but nobody asked me). From your starting point when you first enter the Library, head left and around a corner to find a loose candle. Now head back to the starting point, and head forward. Light up the candle and you’ll come upon a bookcase with bird ornaments on either side. Take a picture of how the books are arranged using your DAS.
- Step 3 – Back to the starting point, and go right. There is a candle holder on the wall. Put your loose candle in there and light it up. Now that the area is lit up, you’ll see there’s a bookshelf you can push over to create a bridge over a hole in the floor.
- Step 4 – Now, take the candle out of the nearby candle holder. Head back to the starting point, and forward past the bookshelf with the bird ornaments and around the corner. You’ll come to another candle holder. Put the candle in there and light it up.
- Step 5 – Now, go back to the bookshelf bridge, head over it, and circle around. Eventually, you’ll come to another bookshelf you can interact with, which is now illuminated because of that candle you just lit up. Rearrange the books so the match the bookcase with the bird ornaments. A secret door will now open!
- Step 6 – You’re now in the Study. Light up the candle on the table. On the same table, you’ll find a piece of paper with a picture of a scale on it – apply it to the candle, and the invisible ink will be activated, creating a series of symbols. What could these mean?
- Step 7 – Head further into the study and you’ll find a scale and a number of coins. Each one of these coins have a different weight, which will make the omega symbol on the scale tilt in different directions. So, going back to the paper with the invisible ink symbols, you want three coins that will make the omega symbol on the scale tilt upwards 45 degrees, tilt downward 45 degrees, and sit flat.
- Step 8 – The coins you want are, in order, the Waning-Gibbous Moon Coin, the blank New Moon Coin, and the Full Moon Coin.
- Step 9 – There are three convenient slots to put these coins in on the fireplace. Slot them in and another secret passage will open.
- Step 10 – Inside this hidden room, there are more lights to light up. There is also a briefcase locked by a combination. Nearby you’ll find a bag with a birthday card. The birthday card provides D’s birthday, which is the date on the card minus 12 years since it was a 12th birthday card. So, the combination for unlocking the briefcase is 1128 1936. Inside you’ll find the second Another Key!
- Step 11 – Exit the secret room and head into the now-accessible upper west wing hall from a door in the Study. Head downstairs. The lower west wing hall leads to a number of rooms, but you’re heading for the Lounge (you’ll know it by all the bottles of booze in it).
- Step 12 – In the Lounge, there’s a radio that’s switched on for some mysterious reason. You need to adjust its dials until the song playing on it is audible (or until the gauge on the lower right is in the green zone). Then adjust the volume until it’s loud enough. Do this, and a little compartment in the radio will spring open giving you the third Another Key.
And there you have it – the full compliment of Another Keys are now yours! It’s time for the final act of the Another Code: Two Memories’ story to begin.
