Apple is working on a new gaming hub for iOS that’s dedicated specifically to games.
As reported by 9to5Mac, the hub will combine features from the App Store and Game Center, integrating with users’ game center profiles without replacing them.
It will include multiple tabs, such as “play now” for editorial content and game suggestions, as well as tabs for games, friends, and more.
The app will display challenges, leaderboards, and achievements, featuring games from both the App Store and Apple Arcade.
Attracting more players
This new App Store-like app will also promote gaming events and updates, with potential integration with FaceTime and iMessage to help players communicate.
Apple is also exploring mini-games through App Clips. The app would function similarly to the Xbox app, allowing users to view their status and friends’ activities, search for games, and check their library.
The iPhone maker aims to attract more gamers with this app and its existing Apple Arcade subscription service. For now, it’s uncertain whether the app will launch with a future iOS 18 update or iOS 19.
