This Friday, all four models of the new iPhone 13 series will become available for pre-order. But when Apple gives with one hand it generally takes away with the other, and some older – and some rather less old – models are being discontinued from sale at the same time.
We now know that Apple has stopped selling the iPhone XR (launched in 2018) and the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max (launched in 2020!), so if you want any of these models you will have to turn to another retailer or the second-hand market.

If you want to buy an older model from the Apple Store, you can now choose between the iPhone SE, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12. Prices for the latter two models now start at £579/$599 and £679/$699 respectively, compared with £679/$699 and £779/$799 for the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13.
Prices for the iPhone SE and iPhone 11 start at £389/$399 and £489/$499 respectively.
