Apple TV is now streaming globally on the new Chromecast with Google TV. Original Apple TV+ content is housed in the Apps and For You tabs, alongside existing iTunes movie and television purchases. Users can also find personalized and curated recommendations—from Ted Lasso and The Morning Show to For All Mankind or Greyhound—and share subscriptions among up to six family members.
Launched last year, the $49.99 Chromecast with Google TV comes with a voice remote, user interface, and 4K HDR streaming—all in a portable package, and now with even more content. Don’t already subscribe to Apple’s $4.99-per-month streaming plan? Sign up directly from the on-screen app.
Whether you’re settling in for movie night or looking for the latest binge watch, you can browse Apple Originals in personalized recommendations and search results. Or ask Google Assistant to open the Apple TV app or play a particular title. The new Chromecast voice remote makes it easy to find something to watch, get answers to everyday questions (“Hey Google, how’s the weather?”), and adjust compatible smart home lights.
“If you aren’t ready to watch right away, you can add Apple Originals to your Watchlist for later,” Jonathan Zepp, director of media and entertainment for Android and Google Play, wrote in a blog announcement. “These features will roll out globally in the coming months,” he said, also teasing future availability on 2021 Sony and TCL sets, as well as more Android TV-powered devices. Apple TV in November rolled out to Xbox One, Series X, and Series S consoles, offering access to Cupertino’s $4.99-per-month streaming service
