Assassin’s Creed Red, the next entry in the series by Ubisoft set in Feudal Japan, is going to take some pages from the books of a few FromSoftware games, according to a new online report.
In a new video shared by j0nathan, who proved in the past to be an extremely reliable Assassin’s Creed leaker, it is revealed that the game’s map, which will be bigger than Valhalla’s but not as big as Odyssey’s, will feature less marker and less guidance in the vein of Elden Ring, which would be a big change for a series that is known for marking every small thing on its in-game maps.
Providing less guidance ala Elden Ring isn’t the only Assassin’s Creed Red mechanic that will be inspired by a FromSoftware game. According to the leaker, enemies will have a posture bar like in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which players can break to destabilize enemies. Unlike past entries in the series, where they don’t really put up much of a fight, opponents in the next entry in the series will be much better at defending themselves, suggesting more intense and involving combat.
Assassin’s Creed Red’s protagonists, Naoi and Yasuke, will be able to use different abilities to conceal themselves and fight enemies. The female shinobi will be able to use kunai, shuriken, smoke bombs, and bells, while Yasuke’s abilities have yet to be revealed. Both will be able to use a grappling hook to move around and hide in grass by going prone. Among the new gameplay systems will be a spy system that will allow players to recruit enemy spies if they decide to spare them after assaulting their camps.
Assassin’s Creed Red launches on a yet-to-be-confirmed release date. The latest entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, is now available on PC and consoles.
