Asus is releasing an entire range of products based on the Gundam anime series based on the long-running mecha franchise.
The latest of its product range includes the Asus ROG Strix 3090 Gundam Edition graphics card. It’s a special model that not only offers the performance expected from typical ROG RTX 3090 Strix GPUs, but it’s outfitted in fun, Gundam-centric colors at that.
The main unit is white, with red, blue, and gold accents. It might be difficult for outsiders who aren’t a fan of the series to get why this matters, but for anyone who’s a fan of the classic mecha series, this color scheme and design will immediately be reminiscent of many a day spent in front of the TV taking in some awesome action over the years.
The GPU was the first to be shown off during a special Asus-focused gaming event. As if it weren’t difficult enough to secure your own RTX 3090 GPU right now, these special editions will be even more scarce as well as quite pricey. The GPU alone will go for 16,999 Yuans, which is a staggering 2,538 USD.
This pricey premium unfortunately isn’t that far off from what some resellers are asking for typical RTX 3090 GPUs, but we can expect these to be virtually nonexistent to purchase.
Right now, neither this product, nor any of Asus’s many other Gundam-themed peripherals like motherboards, power supplies, or cases, will be available outside of Asia. Importing is obviously an option, but with how difficult it is to procure one of these coveted graphics cards, even that might be a bit of a stretch at present.
Here’s hoping Asus sees fit to eventually bring these products westward.
