Baldur’s Gate 3 sales have surpassed 10 million copies globally across all platforms, Larian’s Director of Publishing has confirmed.
That’s what Michael ‘@Cromwelp’ Douse posted on X yesterday when talking about official mod support coming to the game. Apparently, some players don’t like the fact that Baldur’s Gate doesn’t officially support mods just yet, and Larian’s Director of Publishing took to X to talk about the matter, thereby revealing that the game has sold “way over” 10 million copies.
“We’ll be talking in depth about what our mod support will look like soon”, Douse wrote on X. “Been working on it since launch. As always, we’ll discuss it in our way with our community. Threats & toxicity against our devs & community teams will only harm the conversation. Please stop that.”
According to Douse, correctly implementing mod support takes time, especially for a game that went from 2 million to over 10 million players in a very short time. “This is a game that went from ~2 mil players to way over 10 in a very short space of time, so it’s natural the conversation becomes muddier and complex. But in order to maintain the same level of dialogue, we need people to understand that these conversations take time.”
Douse added, “Until then, BG3 does not yet have mod support. Don’t get angry at mod authors, support teams, community or developers. Our focus is to patch the game while working on future mod support. I understand why it’s frustrating, so what we all need to do is focus on that future.”
To finish, again, we can only be close if we can work close. If we cannot do that, and we have to draw distance, it’ll really suck for everyone, especially us & definitely you. Please help us to work for the greater good of the millions of people who are involved & chill.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available worldwide now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. No details were provided about sales on each platform, but following the game’s release on PC last year, we reported that the game had sold over 5.2 million copies on Steam alone.
Be sure to read what we wrote about this masterpiece in our launch review right here. “With its engaging story, charming characters, extremely dynamic world that constantly reacts and adapts to the player’s actions and choice and a solid tactical combat system, Baldur’s Gate 3 is among the best cRPGs ever released. A wonky interface, the lack of some quality-of-life features and Larian Studios’ trademark save scumming design impact the experience, but they’re only minor issues that don’t take away too much from the whole experience. After years in development, Baldur’s Gate 3 definitely exceeded all expectations, and in the best possible way.”
