Note: This is a developing story. More info about Metroid Prime 4 will be added shortly.
An entire console generation is a long to get by with only a logo. Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced all the way back in 2017 when the Nintendo Switch was still in its infancy, and we haven’t seen anything beyond a basic logo since. The game was originally being developed in collaboration with Bandai Namco, but somehow that went awry, the project was rebooted, and it’s been in development at original Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios for over five years.
Well, today during the most recent Nintendo Direct we finally, finally, got our first look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (that’s the game’s new title) in action. The brief trailer shows Samus touching down on a planet and getting into a rather intense combat with some space pirates, before confronting an intimidating fellow hunter. We then also see her emerge onto a lush, green-looking planet.
The visuals in the trailer are quite impressive – beyond what you’d expect to see in Switch usually. Perhaps connected to that, Nintendo has announced Metroid Prime 4: Beyond won’t arrive until 2025. While we have no confirmation of this, that strongly hints that the game will be a crossgen launch title for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch successor. Of course, that’s just speculation, but it would make sense. You can check out the long-awaited first trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, below.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is coming to Nintendo Switch… and maybe beyond… in 2025.
