Last year, Blue introduced the Yeti X microphone, now it’s releasing an updated World of Warcraft edition complete with voice modulation and hundreds of audio samples taken from Blizzard’s MMO.
“This is an exciting collaboration with Blizzard that brings the World of Warcraft universe to life with Yeti X,” said Doug Sharp, Sr. Product Manager of Gaming at Blue Microphones. “Players not only get broadcast-quality audio, but can transform their voice to bring their personal creativity to their gameplay or stream. We’re excited to see how gamers and streamers will use the new voice modulation effect and the Blizzard HD sample library to entertain audiences and create epic streams.”
This new Yeti X uses Blue Voice microphone technology and can be controlled using Logitech’s G HUB gaming software. The Voice technology isn’t new, it’s just being complimented by the addition of Warcraft audio presets and voices. The “massive library of iconic Warcraft sounds” can easily be assigned to a key binding so they are readily available to quickly trigger while playing the game. Combined with the voice modulation, it should allow your World of Warcraft sessions to feel a lot more, well, Warcraft-y.
The microphone design has also been tweaked to take on a Warcraft look. It’s finished in Battle Grey with gold accents and has the World of Warcraft logo printed in gold on the side. The gold base has runes engraved into it, and the LED meter also has laser-etched runes with color-matched Alliance or Horde faction presets.
The Yeti X World of Warcraft Edition will be available before the end of October for $199.99. That’s compred to the standard Yeti X, which only costs $169.99. When PCMag reviewed the Yeti X in December last year, we found it to be a microphone with strong audio quality and liked the LED live metering and included software for recording. None of that should change with this new edition, you’re just paying an extra $30 for the WoW factor.
