The British International School Riyadh (BISR) has partnered with gaming digital media company Nesma Esports (NES) to provide esports education to students.
This team up will provide BISR’s students with “hands-on” experience from various industry areas such as coaching, broadcasting, game design, data analysis and competition management.
The partnership is in line with the KSA’s Vision 2030 initiative and will also support the National Gaming and Esports Strategy (NGES) as it aims to turn Saudi Arabia into a global gaming hub by 2030.
Fostering community and creativity
BISR is also launching an extracurricular skills academy focused on esports to upskill students in various aspects of the industry. It aims to offer insights into the esports ecosystem, preparing them for careers in the growing field.
“Nesma is proud to partner with BISR in support of Vision 2030 to empower youth in KSA,” said NES CEO Elie Honain. “This programme offers students an opportunity to develop teamwork, strategy, and leadership skills through competitive gaming.”
“Esports fosters community and creativity, and we aim to create a supportive environment where all students can participate and grow. We encourage students to join this exciting initiative and help build a vibrant esports community that empowers our youth to thrive.”
Teslim Olomowewe, BTEC lead at BISR added: “This partnership not only empowers our students with the skills they need for the future, but also positions BISR at the forefront of educational innovation in Saudi Arabia.”
