A PC vendor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin may have leaked the prices for Intel’s 11th-generation “Rocket Lake” Core processors before next month’s launch.
The vendor, Milwaukee PC, appears to have accidentally posted the upcoming desktop CPUs on its website, which was noticed by Twitter user “@harukaze5719” on Friday.
As you can see, the most powerful processor in the family, the Intel Core i9-11900K, will start at $599 — for a $100 price increase over last year’s Intel Core i9-10900K.
The pricing drops to under $500 and $400 with the Core i7 processors. The i5 processors, meanwhile, range from $309 to $179.
However, it remains unclear how accurate any of the CPU listings are. We reached out to Milwaukee PC for comment, and we haven’t heard back. But in the meantime, the vendor has pulled down the product information from its website.
Intel is expected to launch the Rocket Lake CPUs some time next month. However, the products will face some tough competition from AMD’s new Ryzen 5000 CPUs. The Ryzen processors include the 5900X, a 12-core, 24-thread chip for $549, and the 5800X, a 8-core, 16-thread chip for $449.
Intel’s Rocket Lake CPUs will still be built with the company’s 14-nanometer technology. However, the silicon will use some architectural design elements found on Intel’s 10nm laptop chips for a speed increase.
Last month, Intel did post some benchmarks of the Intel Core i9-11900K that claim to show the CPU outperforming AMD’s Ryzen 5900X when it comes to PC gaming. But at the same time, the company did reveal an alarming disparity with the Core i9-11900K: it only has 8 cores and 16 threads, which is a drop down from the 10 cores, 20 threads found in last year’s Core i9-10900K.
Stay tuned for our reviews once Rocket Lake is officially announced. In the meantime, retailers have been discounting last year’s 10th generation Core desktop processors, so you might be able to score a good deal on the chips.
