What’s the most common mistake you see being made in the games sector?
The most common mistake I see is underestimating the importance of user experience and retention strategies. Companies often focus heavily on acquisition without investing in keeping those players engaged long-term.
If you could give other mobile games companies one piece of advice, what would it be?
Focus first on easy-to-access platforms like web gaming to test your product, then invest in targeted marketing. This approach allows for rapid iteration and feedback, which is crucial for refining game mechanics and user experience.
What’s the most important key performance indicator (KPI) for you – and why?
Player retention rate is the most crucial KPI for us. It not only reflects the game’s ability to engage players but also correlates directly with revenue potential over time.
What key trend should we be paying attention to in the next 12 months?
Keep an eye on the growth of web gaming, which could democratise access to high-quality games without the need for expensive hardware.
What role do NFTs play in the future of games?
I don’t see a future for them! 😀
What are your thoughts on Cross-Platform Games?
Cross-platform games are the future, allowing for a seamless gaming experience that enhances user engagement across various devices.
When not making/selling/playing games, what do you do to relax?
I enjoy hiking and archery. Being in nature is refreshing and offers a great counterbalance to the digital world.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received that you can pass on to others?
From Cher: If it isn’t gonna matter in 5 years, it doesn’t matter!
What was your first mobile phone handset?
A Nokia 3310 – indestructible and reliable.
