- NitroPlus’ multimedia activity will bolster global entertainment goals at CyberAgent

Digital advertising firm and games publisher CyberAgent has struck a deal to acquire visual novel games developer NitroPlus for ¥16.7 billion ($104.1 million).
NitroPlus develops content across entertainment sectors, including games, animation, novels and illustrations. Its most notable IP is Touken Ranbu, a free-to-play collectible card game.
CyberAgent said it would support its new subsidiary’s efforts in expanding its IP-related business globally and develop new content.
It added it hopes that NitroPlus’ multimedia activity in games, animation, novels, and illustrations will bolster CyberAgent’s own global entertainment goals.
The NitroPlus name will remain and the current leadership will stay in place following the purchase.
The deal is expected to close on July 1st, 2024.
Joining forces
“With the new structure with CyberAgent, I will focus even more on content production and shift up the gears of production at NitroPlus so that we can create more groundbreaking content,” said NitroPlus president Takashi Kosaka Kosaka (in an auto-translated comment).
“With the barriers between countries disappearing in the content industry, content from Japan should be able to spread even more globally. I would like to improve the quality of NitroPlus’ unique works together with CyberAgent and send them out to the world.
CyberAgent president and CEO Susumu Fujita added: “Nitroplus has a deep knowledge and love for content, and the power to materialise it. They have something we don’t have, and the value of their organisation and brand is very high, so I think they’re truly valuable.”
Another CyberAgent subsidiary, Cygames, revealed an English localisation of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby this week – a 3D anime game with over 21m downloads in Asia.
