Back in December, Sony decided to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store due to the sheer number of bugs and performance problems it contained. Now the game is back, but Sony is recommending base PS4 owners don’t play it.
As VGC reports, the listing for Cyberpunk 2077 has re-appeared on the PlayStation Store for $49.99. It’s compatible with PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5 systems, but an important notice appears at the top of the store page description, which states, “Users continue to experience performance issues with this game. Purchase for use on PS4 systems is not recommended. For the best Cyberpunk experience on PlayStation, play on PS4 Pro and PS5 systems.”
So while Cyberpunk 2077 will still run on a base PS4, your enjoyment of it may be impaired by performance problems CD Projekt still hasn’t been able to fix despite multiple patches being released for the title. CD Projekt also commented about the availability via the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, stating “Users may continue to experience some performance issues with the PS4 edition while we continue to improve stability across all platforms. The PS4 Pro and PS5 versions of the game will provide the best experience on PlayStation.”
Clearly CD Projekt doesn’t want to discourage base PS4 owners from playing the game, but the tweet suggests they may want to wait for further patches to be released before diving in. Even so, this will continue to be a very demanding game, and therefore one that’s best experienced on the latest console generation or a high-end PC.
