New Cyberpunk 2077 4K texture packs are now available for download, introducing visual improvements for various NPCs, food and drink, and more.
The new packs, which have been created by XilaMonstrr, the same developer of other 4K texture packs released earlier this year, introduce high-quality textures upscaled by 4x using chaiNNer and ESRGAN models, which improve the visual quality of several minor NPCs, including Anthony Harris, Arif Iqbal, Brick, Capitan Reyes, Carol, Cassidy righter, Elizabeth and Jefferson Peralez, Gillean Jordan, Haru Kasai, Henry, Jeremiah Grayson, Joshua Stephenson, Kirk Sawyer, Kojima, Michiko, Mitch, Nix, Sobchuk, Steve Sanchez, Tiny Mike, Towfiq, and Ziggy Q, as well as food and drink and containers textures. All the texture packs, which can be downloaded from Nexus Mods, come in two different versions, Maximum, and Performance, although there isn’t much difference in VRAM usage between the upscaled textures and the vanilla game’s High quality textures.
Modders aren’t the only ones that are continuing to improve Cyberpunk 2077’s visuals on PC, as CD Projekt Red released last week a new free update that introduced to the PC version of the game the impressive Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode. This new mode, which has been released as a technology preview as the implementation of its features still isn’t perfect, introduces full path-tracing to the game, greatly enhancing visuals. Path tracing, however, is quite demanding, and only the NVIDIA RTX 40 series GPUs, and the RTX 3090, can run the game with it at acceptable performance. Those with other GPUs that still want to experience exploring Night City with path tracing can use the RT: Overdrive Optimizations mod for slightly lower visual quality and better performance.
Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One. The game’s first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, will launch on PC and current-generation consoles this year.
