Since being revealed back in late 2022, very little has been revealed about Death Stranding 2 beyond its first evocative trailer. Of course, that’s par for the course for Hideo Kojima who likes his teases and secrets, but nevertheless, the Stand-type game fans out there have been hungry for more details. Well, today during the latest State of Play showcase, Sony and Kojima provided a fresh peek at Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (yes, that is the full title) and locked in a 2025 release window. And boy howdy, that trailer’s a big one.
I can’t even begin to describe everything packed into the new Death Stranding 2 trailer, but it does confirm a return to the delivery-focused gameplay of the first game, although this time around Sam looks to have a number of new vehicles to get around and a mobile operating base filled with support staff, which should make the game feel a bit less lonely than the original. It seems Sam is looking to expand the network further, and it appears as if more intense weather effects, floods, and other natural obstacles will stand in your way. Beyond that, what else can be said about a trailer that includes a baby barfing out a spaceship and a new sassy talking puppet sidekick for Sam? You can check out the nearly-10-minute-long new Death Stranding 2 trailer for yourself, below.
“In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam—with companions by his side—sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected? Step by step, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima changes the world once again.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach sees Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker return to Hideo Kojima’s genre defying universe. They will be joined by Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Academy Award-winning film director George Miller. Hideo Kojima is joined by longtime collaborator Yoji Shinkawa who will direct character and mechanical design, with Ludvig Forssell and Kyle Cooper reprising their roles as musical director and title designer, respectively.”
Death Stranding 2 hikes onto the PS5 on sometime in 2025. It’s always hard to know what to expect with Kojima games, but are you suitably intrigued by Death Stranding 2? Or is this series just not your thing?
