The original Samsung foldable from 2020, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G, has just received this month’s security patch rollout from Samsung. As per tradition, the company releases these patches on a monthly basis for all its devices, with of course the latest additions taking precedence over flagships from previous years.
To check if the latest patch is available for download on your device, you can go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Any pending updates that have not automatically downloaded will be listed there.
As could be expected, the main function for the latest security patch—as with all previous monthly updates—is to fix the latest discovered bugs and vulnerabilities in the device. Apart from that, the update also brings improvements to device stability.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G was released in July of last year, a few months after the initial Galaxy Z Flip launch. Contrary to popular belief, the difference between the two devices is more than just 5G wireless connection support; the Z Flip 5G also upgraded to a newer processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus. The standard Z Flip 4G, on other hand, uses the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC.
