Dell will revamp laptops in the XPS, Alienware, and Precision series this summer with the latest chips from Intel and Nvidia.
Both the XPS 15 and XPS 17 will be upgraded with Intel’s newly announced 11th-generation Core H-Series processors, which are designed for high-performance computing and gaming. Both models can be maxed-out with a Core i9 CPU.
By default, the laptops run on built-in Intel graphics. But for even more graphics processing, you can configure the 15.6-inch XPS 15 with up to an RTX 3050 Ti GPU from Nvidia. The larger 17-inch model, on the other hand, can be outfitted with the RTX 3060 graphics chip.
Ports also get an overhaul. Dell has upgraded the PCs from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 4, enabling them to support up to two 4K displays.
Last year’s XPS 15 and XPS 17 models are among our top choices for Windows laptops. So we’re interested to see how the upgraded models compare. The XPS 15 will start at $1,199 while the XPS 17 will go for $1,399 and up.
The new Intel Core-H processors are also coming to the company’s gaming laptops, the Alienware M15 R6 and G15. Dell didn’t provide many details on the Alienware PCs. But the R6 looks identical to the M15 R5, which uses AMD’s Ryzen 5000 mobile CPUs and can be configured with an Nvidia RTX 3060 or an RTX 3070.
The G15, on the other hand, is designed to appeal to gamers on a budget. The 15.6-inch laptop can be configured with up to an Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia’s RTX 3000 GPUs.
The Alienware M15 R6 will start at $1,299 while the G15 is going for $949 and up.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Alienware brand, Dell also dropped a teaser for a new “X-Series” line of gaming laptops.
The mysterious product appears to be even thinner than existing Alienware laptops. The new systems will feature a “Gallium-Silicone Thermal Interface Material,” which can retain less heat. To bring down the temperatures even more, the laptop will use a “Quad-Fan” system capable of moving large amounts of air across a thin hardware design.
The X-Series will also come equipped with Intel’s 11th generation Core processors and Nvidia’s RTX 3000 GPUs. Expect more details on the new laptop models to be announced on June 1 via Alienware’s Twitch stream.
The other laptops receiving a refresh encompass the Precision line, which centers on mobile workstations for professional users. Customers will be able to choose from Intel’s 11th-generation Core H-series CPUs or even an Intel Xeon processor.
The high-ender models can also be outfitted with Nvidia’s professional-grade GPUs. For example, the 17-inch Precision 7760 and 15-inch Precision 7560, can be configured with up to an A5000 GPU, which has 16GB of video memory.
The same laptops can also be upgraded with up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM, making them ideal for users with data-heavy workloads. In addition, Dell has included the option to add a 5G modem to the products.
The company plans on announcing pricing closer to the launch date. The Precision line also includes the Precision 5650, 5760, and laptops in the 3000 series, which offer lower PC specs. No specific launch dates were provided.
