Though we still have a long way to go before COVID-19 is a thing of the past, part of the way to get there is with vaccinations. Workplaces, restaurants, and events are all safer when those who inhabit them are vaccinated. The white cards that hold the proof of that can be easily misplaced, though. There are lots of ways to put that card on your phone, but some states have specific mobile solutions that fit local requirements, too.
Here’s a list of the ones we’ve found; in some states, lawmakers and governors have moved to ban so-called vaccine passports. In those that have them, some let you store a digital copy of your card in the app, some give you a digital copy that you can save in other apps, and some give you access to a record that says you’re vaccinated, which may or may not be accepted by a venue or workplace. Regulations that affect digital records change frequently.
We’ll do our best to keep this list updated, but if you want the latest, it’s a good bet that your state’s department of health website has what you need to know.
Alabama
Alabama does not offer digital proof of vaccination. In May, Gov. Kay Ivey signed legislation that bans vaccine passports, the AP reports.
Alaska
Alaska uses MyIR Mobile, which currently partners with seven states and Washington, D.C. to provide printed and mobile vaccination records. “Your registration information is used to locate an exact record match in the immunization registry. If an exact match is found, a verification code will be sent to the matching phone number. You must enter that code, then your record will be linked and can be viewed on the Immunizations page,” MyIR Mobile says.
Arizona
Arizona uses MyIR Mobile. (See Alaska for more details.)
Arkansas
Arkansas does not offer digital proof of vaccination. In April, Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed a bill that bans vaccine passports. (The state also banned state and local mask mandates, something Hutchinson recently said he now regrets supporting.)
California
California has a statewide app. Residents of LA County (including Pasadena and Long Beach) who have received at least one dose of vaccine (regardless of vaccination location), and anyone who has received at least one dose in LA County (regardless of where they live) also have access to Healthvana, which offers digital vaccination records.
