Global Dragon’s Dogma 2 sales have surpassed 2.5 million units across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Publisher Capcom announced the news through an official press release on its Japanese investor page just now. With Dragon’s Dogma 2 sales topping 2.5 million copies, cumulative sales for the franchise have surpassed 10 million units across all platforms. Capcom released the long-overdue sequel last month on March 22. This means that the title managed to sell 2.5 million units in less than two weeks.
“Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that worldwide sales of Dragon’s Dogma 2 surpassed 2.5 million units”, the press release reads. “The Dragon’s Dogma series consists of action games in a fantasy setting where players adventure in an expansive open world of swords and magic. Since the release of the first game in 2012, the series garnered praise worldwide for gameplay features such as its “pawn” adventure companions who can carry out actions on their own, leading the series to exceed 10 million units sold cumulatively.”
Since the game’s launch, modders have been hard at work to release interesting mods for PC players, including stamina mods, camera mods, ray tracing mods, and much more. Last week, Capcom released a title update for the game, improving DLSS quality, fixing bugs, and more.
We reviewed the game upon release and praised its combat, visuals, world design, and peerless sense of exploration. “This review may read quite negatively, but it’s only because of the lofty expectations that surrounded Dragon’s Dogma 2”, we wrote. “The original game was an amazing foundation to build upon, and yet CAPCOM seemed content with keeping the same strengths without improving much on the weaknesses. Twelve years later, though, the effect cannot be the same. Still, make no mistake: Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a highly enjoyable fantasy action/adventure with RPG elements that will provide you with about 40 hours of pure fun. Its peerless sense of exploration, meaty combat system, and stunning visuals will motivate you throughout the entire playthrough. Just don’t expect to find a fantasy world simulator or, indeed, a narrative worth remembering.”
