NetEase Games’ new street basketball title Dunk City Dynasty has surpassed one million installs.
The officially licenced game was released on May 22nd, 2025 as a free-to-play title on iOS and Android. It features international players from the NBA and NBPA, who gamers can take control of in 3v3 and 5v5 game modes.
Dunk City Dynasty’s launch has seen it top App Store charts in the US, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries.
Athletes and achievements
NetEase Games claimed the title has had a “successful launch”, having noted Dunk City Dynasty’s 4.9 star rating and ‘Recommended’ status on some stores. The game’s official communities have also grown to over 50,000 members.
Early performance has been attributed in part to this active community on Discord and social media, as well as to official athletes and celebrity collaborators. Jordan Clarkson was invited to be Dunk City Dynasty’s brand ambassador, for example, meanwhile Kendrick Perkins has taken on the role of the game’s first guest commentator.
There has also been a public endorsement from official NBA socials online.
Notably, however, Dunk City Dynasty install milestone is currently still shy of its five million pre-registrations. There are various rewards available in-game for early players for hitting the pre-registration goal.
AppMagic estimates suggest the game has generated nearly $1.5m since its global launch, with the US leading spending. Including Chinese player spending from soft launch – going back as far as August 2023 – Dunk City Dynasty has made $113.8m.
