Dynabook is ready to tap Intel’s new Tiger Lake 11th Generation Core processors with two new Windows 10 laptops, including one that can turn into a tablet.
The first model, Portégé X30W-J, is a laptop convertible designed to adhere to Intel’s new Evo program. Previously known as Project Athena, Evo has been challenging PC vendors to create thin, light, and responsive laptops with long battery life.
Dynabook, which was formerly under Toshiba, is hoping to receive Evo certification on the Portégé X30W-J, a laptop that comes in under 2.2 pounds.

It’s a pretty sleek-looking machine that comes in a dark blue, magnesium alloy casing. The product is also fitted with a 13.3-inch 1080p display, built on a 360-hinge, which can flip the device into a touch-screen tablet.

You’ll be able to buy it with Intel’s 11th Generation Core i5-1135G7 or Core 7-1165G7 processors. The memory can be configured for up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and 1TB of SSD. Other perks include two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-Type A port, an HDMI port, a microSD Card slot, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and a fingerprint reader.
The Portégé X30W-J is still waiting for verification through Intel’s Evo program. But Dynabook says it’ll work with the chipmaker to ensure the product meets the necessary specifications, which include offering at least 9 hours of real-world battery life.
For consumers looking for a traditional laptop, Dynabook created the Portégé X30L-J, which looks pretty similar. However, it weighs in at just under 2 pounds, for an even lighter load.

The Portégé X30L-J retains the 13.3-inch 1080p display, but you can downgrade it to 1,366-by-768 resolution to save some money. Other specs and configuration options remain largely the same. However, Dynabook added an Ethernet port, and another USB Type-A port to the device.
Both products are scheduled to arrive some time in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, there’s no word on exact pricing, but the company’s Portégé laptops generally start at $1,000. The vendor plans on selling the models on us.dynabook.com and through third-party retailers.
