Koei Tecmo and Nexon’s Dynasty Warriors M is ending service on February 20th, 2025, just 15 months on from its global launch.
After soft launching in Asia in October 2023, the title was released globally on November 22nd, 2023 as the franchise’s first new entry since 2018. According to AppMagic estimates, it has generated almost $10.7 million in lifetime player spending to date.
Before the end
South Korean developer Nexon adapted the franchise to mobile in a blending of the series’ staple hack-and-slash gameplay together with genres like idle, gacha and strategic city builder. It launched with 50 of Dynasty Warriors 9’s 94 characters.
Dynasty Warriors M’s biggest playerbase is in Japan, which accounts for 25% of lifetime downloads. The title’s most lucrative audience, meanwhile, is South Korea, with 40% of lifetime revenue coming from the region. Players in Japan have contributed 28% of spending.
Neither Nexon nor Koei Tecmo has given an official reason for M’s upcoming closure, but AppMagic data suggests its revenue peaked in December 2023 and has declined month-on-month since June 2024.
In-app purchases were halted after maintenance on December 19th, 2024, at which time it was confirmed that players could continue to spend their previously purchased currency in the in-game shop but would be unable to spend any more real money going forward.
The publisher also confirmed that any premium gold purchased will not be refunded, and that as of February 20th, the title will no longer be available to download. Existing players will lose access to the game that same day.
“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our warriors who have supported Dynasty Warriors M with interest and feedback for over a year since our launch,” the team stated.
“Despite your continued support throughout our journey together, we regretfully inform you that Dynasty Warriors M will end its service on February 20th, 2025. We sincerely thank you once again for your love and support for Dynasty Warriors M.”
