EA has recalibrated its estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2025, now expecting a range of $7 billion to $7.15 billion in net bookings.
This is a decline from the $7.5 billion to $7.8 billion net bookings range predicted in October 2024, largely attributed to the waning momentum of its football franchise Global Football in Q3.
Previously, EA had expected Global Football’s net bookings to surpass the record fiscal year 2024, but this is no longer the case.
After two consecutive years of double-digit net booking growth, Global Football “experienced a slowdown” between October and December 2024 and is now expected to end the 2025 fiscal year “down mid-single-digit”.
Meanwhile, Dragon Age’s player engagement in Q3 was down almost 50% from EA’s expectations with approximately 1.5 million players.
Provisional results
Though EA’s Q3 financial report hasn’t yet been released, the publisher has provided preliminary results suggesting net bookings of roughly $2.2 billion for the quarter.
The company also now expects GAAP net revenue to be almost $1.9 billion for Q3, while GAAP diluted earnings per share are projected at approximately $1.11.
“During Q3, we continued to deliver high-quality games and experiences across our portfolio,” said EA CEO Andrew Wilson. “However, Dragon Age and EA Sports FC 25 underperformed our net bookings expectations.
“We remain confident in our long-term strategy and expect a return to growth in FY26, as we execute against our pipeline.”
EA CFO Stuart Canfield added: “We continue to balance investment for future growth with operational discipline and remain committed to EA’s long-term financial framework. As we look to FY26, we expect to grow as we launch more of our iconic franchises.”
EA’s actual third-quarter results are due to be revealed on February 4th, 2025, covering the three months ending December 31st, 2024.
The company has also shut down a range of titles and online services for games “no longer feasible to continue” over recent years, most recently affecting EA Sports UFC Mobile 2.
