PUBG publisher Krafton has invested in startup games studio EF Games, a Spanish developer currently working on a competitive multiplayer PvP title.
Through this international investment, EF Games will look to expand its workforce by hiring developers, a senior 3D artist and a senior UI artist. Its recruitment drive will span across Europe.
Meeting in Madrid
Founded by CEO Joaquin Ruipérez and CTO Gonzalo Ruipérez, two brothers, EF Games has kickstarted in Madrid with a mission to redefine multiplayer games. The pair hopes to create “innovative and engaging player experiences” that “exceed” modern expectations and intend to hire highly skilled professionals towards that end.
The Ruipérez brothers already have 15 years of experience developing projects in VR, interactive entertainment and “immersive training” for the Estudiofuture brand, but at EF Games, they will focus exclusively on video games.
Several senior professionals with Triple-A game development experience have also joined the studio, which already received some backing before coming out of stealth on January 1st, 2024.
Almost half a year later, members of the Krafton Publishing team visited EF Games in Madrid and “got to know key members of EF Games”. In late June, the two companies exchanged ideas in person and began to “explore potential collaborations”.
EF Games said at the time: “We look forward to building on this initial meeting and continuing the conversation with Krafton Publishing as we explore future possibilities.”
Now, just over three months later Krafton has officially invested an undisclosed sum in the startup.
“We are thrilled to have Krafton’s support as we build a team of creative and driven individuals dedicated to pushing the boundaries of multiplayer PvP games,” said Joaquin Ruipérez,
“We look forward to welcoming exceptional talent to our growing team.”
