Wizardry Spells make an interesting addition to the game, providing you with buffs and more chances to damage enemies. You unlock them during the opening mission when you rest at the first Battle Flag you find in the area.
You can learn new Wizardzy Spells from the Battle Flag menu and cast them during battles. Each is tied to a specific Phase: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water. However, every Spell comes with particular requirements. You must meet its Morale Rank and Virtue value to cast it. You can check this information in the Wizardry Spells menu, and if you try to unlock an enchantment that you won’t be able to use due to your current attributes, the game will warn you.
You can use your preferred Spells by setting them up in their specific menu. Remember that you can select up to four enchantments to use when you fight and change them every time you rest at a Battle Flag. Depending on the enemies you face, you may want to deal extra damage to foes or temporarily enhance certain stats. With that said, let’s have a look at the best Wizardry Spells to unlock early in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
Best Wood Phase Spells
- Absorb Vitality: when you cast it and then deal damage to any opponent, your health will be partially restored. Your allies will also benefit from that. It requires Wood Virtue at level 3 and Morale Rank at 0.
- Spirit Fervor: this Wizardry Spell will boost the amount of Spirit gained when you and your allies land an attack. It requires Wood Virtue at level 6 and Morale Rank at 3.
Best Fire Phase Spells
- Fireblast: a good Spell that will help you deal some extra damage to enemies. With this one, you throw a ball of fire in front of you, which will explode when it hits a foe or the terrain. It requires Fire Virtue at level 4 and Morale Rank at 0.
- Amplify Damage: this is a high-risk, high-rewarding Wizardry Spell. When you use it, the damage you deal to enemies will be increased for a brief period. On the other hand, if you get hit by an opponent, you will lose more HP than usual. It requires Fire Virtue at level 8 and Morale Rank at 3.
- Burning Flamewave: you can cast a tongue of fire on the ground with this one. Enemies will take continuous damage by walking on it. It requires Fire Virtue at level 10 and Morale Rank at 3.
Best Earth Phase Spells
- Enhanced Defense: temporarily reduces the damage you take from enemy attacks and prevents you from flinching, except for Critical Blows. It requires Earth Virtue at level 2 and Morale Rank at 3.
- Mighty Shockwave: this Wizardry Spell generates a powerful shockwave that will push away enemies in your surroundings. It requires Earth Virtue at level 3 and Morale Rank at 7.
Best Metal Phase Spells
- Repression Crush: for some time, opponents hit by this enchantment will recover their Spirit more slowly than usual. It requires Metal Virtue at level 2 and Morale Rank at 0.
- Poison Corrosion: enemies that run into the poison fog generated by this Spell will lose some of their HP over time. The effect, however, is temporary. It requires Metal Virtue at level 3 and Morale Rank at 0.
Best Water Phase Spells
- Frost Lance: you can throw multiple iced balls at your enemies with this, damaging them. It requires Water Virtue at level 1 and Morale Rank at 0.
- Frozen Spear Trap: this Wizardry Spell activates an ice trap around you, and enemies who step on it will be damaged. It requires Water Virtue at level 3 and Morale Rank at 3.
To cast Wizardry Spells during a battle, press R2/RT plus the corresponding button on your controller or directly 1/2/3/4 on PC. Remember you have a Basic Training arena you can access whenever you need by interacting with any Battle Flag. Select the Travel option from the menu and open the “Other” tab. You can take some time to practice with Wizardry Spells and learn how to use them properly.
