The Fallout Amazon TV series debuted last night, and to follow up on the hype, Bethesda will be releasing a long-awaited next/current-gen update for Fallout 4. On PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, that means players will now have access to a both a Quality mode and a 60fps Performance mode. What resolution we can expect hasn’t been specified – guess we’ll have to wait for Digital Foundry to weigh in on that. Bethesda is also promising “stability improvements, login and quest fixes” on console.
Ah, but don’t feel left out PC players! A Fallout 4 update is coming for you too, which will include widescreen support, Steam Deck verification, and “stability, mods, quest, and bug fixes.” The game has also been added to GeForce Now and will be coming to the Epic Games Store if you’re the rare EGS loyalist.
In addition to the updates, some extra free Creating Kit goodies are coming, including…
Enclave Remnants
Enclave Remnants brings the Pre-War cabal, The Enclave, into the Fallout 4 storyline. - Enclave Weapon Skins
- Enclave Armor Skins
- Tesla Cannon
- Hellfire Power Armor
- X-02 Power Armor
- Heavy Incinerator
Makeshift Weapon Pack
Ever thought a piggy bank would make a great weapon in a pinch? This weapon pack includes a variety of unconventional objects that have been transformed into deadly weapons, such as: a baseball launcher, a nail gun and a piggy bank.
Halloween Workshop
Leftover from an ill-fated Halloween party, thrown by the New England Technocrat Society, these 38 new Halloween decorations include witches, cauldrons, ghouls and more! Decorate for Halloween or make your settlements spooky all year round!
I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I quite enjoyed Fallout 4, and I think I might take a spin around it’s irradiated world again on PS5 now that it’s been properly updated.
Fallout 4 can be played on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, and Xbox Series X/S and PS5 via backward compatibility. The proper next-gen console versions and PC update arrive on April 25.
