The makers of the Fallout London mod have announced many impressive details about the game, which we’ll recap later in this article, but the latest news from the final progress video is that none other than Neil Newbon will lend his voice acting chops to the game.
Neil Newbon has worked on many games, starting with Funcom’s The Secret World and then Digital Extremes’ Warframe, Mercurysteam’s Spacelords, Quantic Dream’s Detroit: Become Human, Compulsion Games’ We Happy Few, CAPCOM’s Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Village, BioWare’s Star Wars The Old Republic, Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI, and KeokeN’s Deliver Us Mars. However, he became famous with his performance of Astarion, the High Elf rogue vampire Origin character featured in Baldur’s Gate 3, winning the Best Performance prize at The Game Awards 2023 and Best Supporting Performer at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023. He was also nominated for the Great White Way Award for Best Acting in a Game at the New York Game Awards (losing to Melanie Liburd, who played Saga Anderson in Alan Wake 2) and for Outstanding Achievement in Character at the DICE Awards (losing to Miles Morales from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2).
Neil Newbon won’t be the only famous voice actor to be featured in Fallon London, either, as the modding team unveiled that Anna Demetriou also lent her talent to the upcoming mod. Demetriou was previously featured in The Ascent, Horizon Forbidden West, A Plague Tale: Requiem (she was Sophia), and Final Fantasy XVI (where she played Doris).
Fallout London is a total conversion mod of Fallout 4. It brings the post-apocalyptic environment seen in the regular games to the capital of the United Kingdom. Players will be able to explore 15 boroughs of London, a playable area that the modders have estimated to be equivalent to the base Fallout 4 game plus the Far Harbor DLC. Other features include:
- 53 main quests, 35 side quests, 25 faction quests, 64 miscellaneous quests, and 16 branching gang quests
- 7 companions (including a British dog), 5 of which are fully voiced with detailed relationship levels and their own quests
- Over 90K recorded voice lines, 1.5x the number of lines in Fallout New Vegas or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and only slightly less than Fallout 4 (with the difference that Bethesda’s game had a voiced protagonist and Fallout London does not
- Overhauled perk and dialogue system with skill and perk checks during dialogues;
- New player animations such as ladder climbing and swimming
- Dynamic weather
Fallout London launches for PC on Saint George’s Day, April 23, shortly after the debut of the TV show on Amazon Prime Video. Team FOLON is now a trademarked company, and it has already expressed interest in making actual games next.
