Spotify inked a deal with FC Barcelona to become the Spanish soccer team’s official audio streaming partner and main partner of the club.
As CBS reports, the Swedish music streaming service’s name and logo will appear on training and game shirts, and, for the first time in Barça’s history, its 65-year-old stadium is being rebranded as “Spotify Camp Nou.”
Located in Spain’s capital, the arena—Europe’s largest—seats 99,354 people and has hosted countless soccer competitions, as well as the 1992 Summer Olympics. The name change, approved by the Board of Directors of FC Barcelona, is subject to ratification of the Extraordinary Delegate Members Assembly.
“This partnership will allow us to continue to bring the club closer to its fans and make them feel, even more, part of the Barça family through unique experiences, combining two activities such as entertainment and [soccer], making it possible for us to connect with new audiences around the world,” according to FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta.
The long-term agreement, reportedly worth $310 million, kicks off in July. But it’s about more than large-scale marketing: FC Barcelona and Spotify plan to use in-stadium promotional surfaces to “present and amplify the work of artists” to the club’s global TV audience.
